
Fort Payne, Ala.- A transfer truck pulling an empty trailer crashed into a residence Wednesday afternoon after the driver reportedly experienced a medical emergency behind the wheel, city officials confirmed.
The crash was reported around 2:25 pm near the 1400 block of Gault Avenue South. Officials said the truck left the roadway and struck a home near 12th Street and Gault Avenue.
Fort Payne Mayor Brian Baine confirmed the residence was unoccupied at the time, and no injuries were reported inside the home.
Emergency responders transported the driver to a local hospital. Officials have not released details on the driver’s condition or the cause of the medical issue. Information regarding property damage is also limited at this time.
