CENTRE, Ala.– The graduates earned associate degrees in applied science in Registered Nursing and were formally conferred their degrees during commencement exercises on December 18 at Gadsden State Cherokee.

Several students were honored with awards recognizing academic excellence and professional commitment. Erin Adderhold received the Florence Nightingale Award, the program’s highest honor, recognizing exceptional dedication to compassionate and caring nursing practice. Adderhold also earned the Excellence in Academic Achievement Award for achieving the highest grade point average in the class.
Academic Achievement Awards, presented to graduates maintaining a grade point average of at least 3.0, were awarded to Memery Gwin, Kaylee Higdon, Mattison Sirmon, and Aliyah Williams.
In addition, six graduates were recognized for completing the Registered Nurse Apprenticeship Program, which allows students to earn income while gaining hands-on experience through on-the-job training with registered apprenticeship employers. Those graduates were Emma Bethune, Jessica Goza, Kaylee Higdon, Mattison Sirmon, Kobie Traylor, and Ashley Wolf.
The pinning ceremony marks a significant milestone in the transition from nursing student to professional registered nurse.
