West Rome Teen Faces Multiple Charges Following DUI Crash
Rome, Ga. — An 18-year-old West Rome resident is facing a series of charges after authorities say he lost control of his vehicle, crashed, and fled the scene.
According to Floyd County Jail records, Jose Oswaldo Sil-Garcia drove off the roadway and overturned his vehicle onto its side after failing to negotiate a curve on Roseway Circle at Pine Street. Reports indicate the vehicle struck a handrail and a concrete wall during the crash.
Investigators determined that Sil-Garcia was driving under the influence at the time of the incident and did not possess a valid driver’s license. Open containers of alcohol were reportedly found inside the vehicle. Authorities further state that Sil-Garcia fled the scene on foot before being apprehended.
Sil-Garcia has been charged with duty upon striking a fixture, driving under the influence, open container, obstruction of law enforcement, driving without a license, failure to maintain a lane, driving too fast for conditions, and being an intoxicated minor.
