Landscape Upgrades For New City Hall
The City Council met in a Special Called Meeting Tuesday afternoon at 5 pm to deal with a change order on the new City Hall Project. Councilman Don Cothran presided over the meeting in the absence of the Mayor and Mayor Pro-tem. In addition to Cothran, Phillip Roberts, Tory Chandler, Caretha Clifton and Jimmy Williams were present.
The change order was to update the landscaping for the City Hall project. The original order called for landscaping cost of $56,883. That amount will be credited to the new amount. In addition to upgraded costs due to a Landscape design provided by the Master’s Gardeners, sleeves also had to be installed underground to accommodate the project. Building Inspector Raymond Matthews told the Council this would prevent them from having to cut the new asphalt later. Installation of the sleeves and the upgraded cost of the landscaping called for a change order in the amount of $118,456 which was approved.
Cothran told the Council, the Rec Supervisor had met with Gadsden State about using the Arena for Rec Basketball. Gadsden State approved the request for 11 dates for games. The only cost to the City is $50 per game for cleanup. The measure was approved.
The next meeting of the Centre City Council is scheduled for January 13th at 5 pm in the Council Chambers.
