Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office Hosts Statewide Training for Future FTOs and JTOs
Leesburg-The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office recently hosted a three-day Field Training Officer (FTO) and Jail Training Officer (JTO) course at the Cherokee County Training Center, bringing together 25 students from law enforcement agencies across Alabama.
According to Sheriff Jeff Shaver, the program is designed to develop future trainers and leaders within both patrol and corrections. The course was led by Sgt. Mike Farrell, who served as the primary instructor. He was assisted by Chief of Corrections Sierra Wilks, Lt. Jordan Kelley, and Sgt. Daniel Holcomb, whose combined experience provided participants with a practical, hands-on learning environment.

Sheriff Shaver said the department values opportunities to collaborate with agencies statewide and remains committed to supporting training efforts that strengthen law enforcement and corrections throughout Alabama.
