Atrium Health Floyd and Harbin Clinic Announce Temporary Visitor Restrictions During Cold and Flu Season

Rome, GA-As cold and flu season intensifies, Atrium Health Floyd and Harbin Clinic have implemented temporary visitor restrictions to help protect vulnerable patients and reduce the spread of respiratory illness across their facilities.

According to the announcement, visitors are still welcome, but certain locations will operate under tightened guidelines. Restricted areas include hospitals, emergency departments, rehabilitation units, skilled nursing facilities, behavioral health locations, inpatient hospice, infusion centers, and specific cancer care areas such as bone marrow transplant clinics.

Under the updated policy, visitors with respiratory symptoms are asked not to enter these locations. Children 12 and under are also restricted, except for healthy siblings visiting newborns in labor and delivery units. Children may visit skilled nursing facilities, and additional exceptions may be approved on a case-by-case basis if the child is symptom-free.

To further protect patients, visitors in restricted locations are asked to wear masks in all direct care areas, waiting rooms, and areas where signage indicates masking requirements. Masks remain optional in most other areas. Patients with respiratory symptoms are encouraged to wear masks when leaving their rooms, and anyone may request that providers or care team members wear a mask during their visit.

Masks are available at facility entrances.

Atrium Health Floyd also advises patients and visitors to allow extra travel time when visiting Floyd Medical Center in Rome due to ongoing road construction and closures. The work may impact Shorter Avenue, Turner McCall Boulevard, North Second Avenue, and Martha Berry Boulevard near the hospital.

A shuttle service is available to assist patients and visitors traveling from the Main Entrance parking lot to the hospital. Those needing shuttle assistance may call Atrium Health Floyd Security at 706-509-5150.
