MONTGOMERY – With the Alabama High School Athletic Association Central Board scheduled to meet on Wednesday morning, many thought the organization would announce its bi-annual reclassification for the 2026-28 school years.
However, AHSAA Executive Director Heath Harmon released a statement Wednesday afternoon regarding the upcoming sports reclassification.
“Due to current mediation the AHSAA Central Board of Control is postponing reclassification from December 15, 2025, to January 23, 2026,” Harmon’s statement read.
The last time the AHSAA approved reclassification was Dec. 18, 2023. It saw local teams Cedar Bluff move from Class 1A to 2A and Collinsville from Class 2A to 3A.
