Town Pays Tribute to Fallen Police Dog Draco

CEDAR BLUFF, Ala– Cedar Bluff officials honored a fallen K-9 officer this week, remembering K-9 Draco as a trusted partner who served agencies across Cherokee County for nearly a decade.

Draco died December 4th from a sudden medical condition. He spent eight years working as a narcotics and patrol K-9 with the Leesburg Police Department, the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office, and most recently the Town of Cedar Bluff alongside Sgt. Jamie Chapman.

During Monday night’s council meeting, Mayor Shannon Warren delivered a tribute to Draco, calling him a loyal and dependable partner whose work played a key role in keeping the community safe. The town presented Sgt. Chapman with a plaque recognizing Draco’s service.

Officials say Draco wasn’t just a working dog—he was a familiar face at public events and a valued part of every agency he served. His loss is being felt throughout the county’s law-enforcement community.

K-9 Draco leaves behind a legacy of dedication, teamwork, and service that Cedar Bluff leaders say will not be forgotten.
