PIEDMONT — Rollie Pinto netted 21 points, including 11 in the fourth quarter, to lead the Piedmont Bulldogs to a 68-59 season-opening boys basketball win over Sand Rock on Thursday.

Taylon Swain added 13 points for the Bulldogs (1-0). Nick Glover sank four 3-pointers and had 12 points.

Eli Johnson netted nine points, and Mason Morrow finished with six points on a pair of treys.

Jonas Browder led Sand Rock (4-2) with 14 points, including three treys. He also had four rebounds, and a steal.

Ty Traffanstedt tallied 10 points, six rebounds, three assists, and two steals. Thomas Snead added 10 points, two rebounds, and two assists. Will Cleere contributed six points and seven rebounds. Jaxon Bruce also had six points and four rebounds. Elijah Hood finished with five points, four rebounds, three assists, and a steal.

Piedmont travels to Etowah on Friday. Sand Rock hosts Cedar Bluff to begin area play on Tuesday.
