Gadsden Fire Department Receives Grant to Upgrade Water Rescue Equipment

GADSDEN — The Gadsden Fire Department has announced it has received new grant funding from Coosa Valley Resource Conservation & Development (RC&D) to upgrade its water rescue equipment, a move officials say will significantly enhance safety and response capabilities across the region.
The funding will be used to modernize and expand rescue gear utilized in operations on the Coosa River and the numerous creeks and waterways throughout the Gadsden community. Fire officials say the upgraded equipment will allow responders to work more efficiently during emergencies, while improving overall safety for both personnel and citizens.

The department expressed gratitude to Senator Andrew Jones and Representative Mack Butler for their ongoing support of Coosa Valley RC&D, noting that their involvement helps make local public-safety projects like this possible.

“We appreciate everyone who played a role in securing this funding,” the department said in its announcement. “Stronger equipment means safer responders—and safer citizens.”
The upgraded gear is expected to be placed into service as soon as training and deployment preparations are completed.
