GULF SHORES – The Cherokee County Lady Warriors won two out of their three basketball games at the Gulf Shores Thanksgiving Battle at the Beach Tournament.
Following Saturday’s 57-35 victory over Cold Springs, the Lady Warriors defeated Holly Pond on Monday 55-39. They concluded the tournament with a 61-49 loss to Class 5A West Point on Tuesday.
In the win over Holly Pond, Ellisan Givens collected 12 points, seven rebounds, and a pair of steals. Deannia Starr posted nine points, 13 rebounds, six assists, six steals, and a block. Nevaeh Gaidurgis delivered nine points, seven rebounds, and five assists. Mattie Green and Brooklynn Bruce both finished with eight points and four rebounds.
In the loss to West Point, the two teams were tied at 29 at halftime and at 43 heading into the fourth quarter before West Point pulled away for the win.
Givens led the Lady Warriors (5-1) with 14 points, six rebounds, six assists, and four steals. Green gained 12 points, including a pair of 3-pointers, with two assists and two rebounds. Gaidurgis managed 11 points, seven rebounds, and two steals. Bruce sank a pair of treys and finished with eight points.
Cherokee County plays an area game at Cleburne County on Friday, Dec. 5.
