Cherokee County-Cherokee County Sheriff Jeff Shaver, in partnership with District Attorney Summer Summerford, has announced two free educational events aimed at promoting public safety and responsible firearm use. Both sessions will take place at the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office Training Facility and are open to all residents.

The first event, a Self-Defense Law Seminar, is scheduled for Monday, December 9, 2025, from 5 to 7 p.m. The seminar will provide an overview of Alabama’s self-defense laws and offer guidance to citizens on understanding their legal rights and responsibilities. Firearm safety and proper handling will also be discussed.
