Gadsden Salvation To Open Warming Station as Temperatures Drop

GADSDEN, Ala- With cold temperatures expected later this week, The Salvation Army in Gadsden is expanding its emergency services and opening a warming station to protect vulnerable residents.

Beginning Wednesday, Nov. 26, the warming station at 114 N. 11th Street will operate daily from 5 p.m. to 8 a.m. The shelter will also be open on Thursday and Friday, Nov. 26 and 27, offering a safe, heated space along with hot meals, warm beverages, and essential cold-weather supplies.

The warming station will provide extended hours, emergency cold-weather supplies, and crisis support services to individuals in need.

The Salvation Army is also asking the community for support. Needed donations include winter coats, boots, blankets, sleeping bags, non-perishable food items, hand warmers, and personal care products. Items can be dropped off Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the main office, or brought to the shelter office during evenings and weekends.

Monetary contributions may be made through the Alabama, Louisiana and Mississippi Division’s website.
