
ETOWAH COUNTY, Ala. — On Thursday, November 20, Special Agents with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) launched an investigation into an officer-involved shooting involving officers with the Gadsden Police Department and deputies with the Etowah County Sheriff’s Office assigned to the Etowah County Joint Special Operations Group (ECJSOG).
The incident occurred as ECJSOG members attempted to execute a search warrant in the 1000 Block of Eastview Avenue in Gadsden, located within Etowah County. During the course of the operation, Brandon Jackson, 47, of Gadsden, fired at ECJSOG members, striking one. ECJSOG members returned fire and struck Jackson. A second group member was also injured during the incident.
One injured group member received medical attention at the scene, while the other was transported to the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) Hospital for treatment. Jackson was transported to Gadsden Regional for medical care. Both group members and Jackson are currently in stable condition.
Nothing further is available as the investigation is ongoing. Once complete, the findings will be turned over to the Etowah County District Attorney’s Office.
