Mrs. Velma Sue (Sue) Young

Velma Sue (Sue) Young, 94, Cedar Bluff, AL, passed away peacefully Tuesday, November 18th after a short illness. The daughter of Hughitt T. and Mildred Daniel Ingram, Sue was predeceased by her parents; as well as her husband, Hugh Young; son, Dan Young; and cousin, Mary Ellen Edwards Burk. She is survived by her son,  David Young; niece, Debbie Young; cousins, Robert (Mary) Daniel, Barbara Daniel Mathis, Sammie Gail Daniel Smith, Mike Daniel, Myra Meade, other extended family, and several close friends and members of her church family at Cedar Bluff First Baptist Church.

Sue was the epitome of southern culture, residing in the oldest house in Cedar Bluff, having a wrap-around porch where family and friends enjoyed gathering. Her home was the hub of planning annual school reunions, church activities, dinners and everyone was welcome in her home.

Sue was the unofficial historian of the town of Cedar Bluff, her church, Cedar Bluff school, and her family. She kept handwritten records of each, and these were her treasures. She enjoyed gardening and travel.

Visitation will be held 12:00pm-2:00pm on Thursday, November 20th at Perry Funeral Home.  The funeral service will immediately follow the visitation.

Pallbearers include Larry Black, DeWitt Cox, Charles Crumley, Robert Gossett, Tim Harton,  Casey Hansard, Tommy Hansard and Steve Wade.  Honorary pallbearers are Tim Burgess, Mike Daniel, Robert Daniel, Todd Dean, Jerry Hart, Eddie Ray, Phil Stinson and Roy Wynn.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that donations may be made to Cedar Bluff First Baptist Church Building Fund, in her memory.
