Family Care Center Announces Increased Need Ahead of Holiday Season, Requests Community Support

CENTRE — The Family Care Center is reassuring the community that it will remain open and fully operational as the holiday season approaches. With recent changes affecting local assistance programs, the organization says it is preparing for a significant rise in families seeking help — potentially double the number they typically serve.
To meet the expected demand, the Center is asking for public support through donations, emphasizing that monetary contributions are especially effective. Financial gifts allow the Center to buy food in bulk at discounted rates, stretching resources further to serve more families.
For those who prefer to donate items directly, the Center has released an updated list of its most-needed food staples:
-
Canned vegetables
-
Boxes of stuffing
-
Mac and cheese
-
Dinner rolls (accepted only on Friday, Nov. 21, and must be dated fresh through Thanksgiving)
The Family Care Center also announced its holiday distribution schedule. Food distribution will take place on:
-
November 24
-
December 8
-
December 22
-
10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
-
1250 W. Main St., Centre
The Center serves residents of Cherokee County. However, those living outside the county who need assistance are encouraged to call 2-1-1 to be connected with resources in their area.
As the holidays near, the Family Care Center says community support will be crucial in making sure no family in Cherokee County goes without food on their table. “Together, we can ensure every family has what they need this season,” the organization said.
