Hawaii Man Arrested in Rome After Allegedly Assaulting Officer During Booking

ROME, Ga. — A Hawaii man was arrested in Rome after reportedly assaulting an officer while being booked into the Floyd County Jail, according to Coosa Valley News.

Authorities say Timothy James Canikerscher, 32, of Haiku, Hawaii, was taken into custody on Broad Street near East 2nd Avenue for city drunkenness. While in the jail’s booking area, Canikerscher allegedly elbowed an officer in the face, causing a serious nose injury. Reports indicate the officer bled “profusely” as a result of the attack.

Canikerscher is charged with city drunkenness, aggravated battery against a police officer, and unlawful acts in a penal institution.
