First Baptist Centre Launches Shoe Drive Fundraiser to Support Children’s Ministry

Centre, AL — Nov. 11, 2025 — First Baptist Church of Centre has launched a Shoe Drive
Fundraiser to help send second through sixth graders to CentriKid Camp next summer at
Shocco Springs.

The church will earn funds based on the total weight of gently worn, used, and new shoes
collected. Through the organization Funds2Orgs, First Baptist Centre will receive a check for
the donated shoes—helping offset the cost of camp for more than sixty children and chaperones.
Anyone can participate by donating gently worn, used, or new shoes at the First Baptist Centre
ROC (Recreation Outreach Center).

All collected shoes will be redistributed through the Funds2Orgs network of micro-enterprise
partners. These small business owners in developing countries use the shoes to help create
sustainable livelihoods in communities where jobs and economic opportunities are limited. The
proceeds from selling the shoes help entrepreneurs feed, clothe, and house their families. One
participant in Haiti even earned enough to send her son to law school.

“We are excited about our shoe drive,” said Rhonda McDonald, Children’s Director at First
Baptist Centre. “Most of us have extra shoes in our closets that we no longer wear. By donating
them, we can raise money for our kids’ camp and support families around the world who are
working to build better lives. It’s a win-win for everyone.”

By donating gently worn, used, or new shoes, community members give their footwear a second
life and help make a difference both locally and globally.
