National Nurse Practitioner Week to Be Celebrated November 9–15

The American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) is encouraging communities across the nation to recognize National Nurse Practitioner Week, set for November 9–15, 2025. The annual observance highlights the vital role nurse practitioners (NPs) play in delivering high-quality healthcare.

The theme for 2025 is “NPs: Trusted Voices, Proven Care.” Nurse practitioners are highly trained advanced practice providers who evaluate patients, order and interpret tests, make diagnoses, and prescribe medications in all 50 states. They provide primary, acute, and specialty care, delivering nearly a billion patient visits each year with a patient-centered, comprehensive approach.

With more than 461,000 licensed NPs practicing across the United States, they work in clinics, hospitals, urgent care centers, nursing homes, and private practices. Their combination of clinical expertise and focus on health management allows them to address a broad range of health care needs and meet the challenges of modern medicine.

National Nurse Practitioner Week is also an opportunity to raise awareness about the exceptional care NPs provide and advocate for the removal of barriers that prevent them from practicing to the full extent of their education and experience.

“The ability of nurse practitioners to meet patients where they are—both geographically and across their health care journey—makes them essential to the future of health care,” the AANP notes.
