LEIGHTON – The Collinsville Panthers’ football season came to an end Friday night at Colbert County in the first round of the Class 3A state playoffs. The final was 64-19.
The Panthers finish the year at 8-3.
Mason McAteer completed 13-of-30 pass attempts for 227 yards and a pair of touchdowns. He connected with Noah Johnson on a 29-yard score in the first quarter, and a 10-yard touchdown to Sam Stewart in the fourth.
Sylas Adams had the Panthers’ final touchdown on a 15-yard run in the fourth quarter. Adams also had five receptions for 120 yards.
Colbert County (8-3) advances to face Gordo in the second round next Friday. Gordo blanked Wellborn 49-0 in other first-round playoff action on Friday.
