Oneonta Man Killed in Blount County Motorcycle Crash

BLOUNT COUNTY – A 35-year-old Oneonta man was killed Tuesday evening in a single-vehicle motorcycle crash in Blount County.

According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA), the crash occurred around 6:43 p.m. on County Road 20 near Rogers Road, approximately five miles east of Oneonta.

Authorities say the rider, identified as Austin L. Bates, was operating a 1947 Indian Chief motorcycle when it left the roadway and struck a tree. Bates was pronounced dead at the scene.

Troopers with ALEA’s Highway Patrol Division are investigating the cause of the crash. No further information has been released at this time.
