ASWA releases final football poll of regular season

The Alabama Sports Writers Association released its final high school football poll of the regular season early Wednesday morning. For the 12th straight week, the Piedmont Bulldogs (10-0) come in at No. 2 behind defending state champion Mars Hill (10-0) in the Class 3A rankings.

Piedmont opens the playoffs on Thursday night at home against Phil Campbell (6-4). Kickoff is at 7 p.m. from the Field of Champions.

The Class 4A Cherokee County Warriors (7-3) continue to receive consideration for the poll. The Warriors open the 4A playoffs on Thursday at No. 10 Good Hope (8-2).

Other area teams in first round playoff action include Class 1A Spring Garden (6-4) at No. 10 Hackleburg (7-3) on Thursday, Class 2A Sand Rock (3-7) at Red Bay (8-2) on Thursday, and Class 3A Collinsville (8-2) at Colbert County (7-3) on Friday.
