Jewell Irene Smith, 84, of Sand Rock, passed away Sunday, November 2, 2025 at her home. Mrs. Smith was born September 6, 1941 to the late Fred and Mattie Jenkins Wilkie. She was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church and will always be remembered as a loving mother and mawmaw.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with Bro. Nick Dewesse and Bro. Jonathan Whisenant officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12 noon until the 2 p.m. hour of service at the church. The family request that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery Fund.
She is survived by her son Terry Smith (Sandra); grandchildren, Kristen Smith, Brandon Smith (Linsey), Haley Helms (Matthew), Abby Richey (Tommy), Jordan Smith (Ragan), and Amber Smith; 17 great-grandchildren; and special sisters-in-law, Nancy Wilkie and Sandra Chambers; and special friends, David and Tracey Jones.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Smith; son, Randy Smith; and granddaughters, April Herring and Kendra McDougle.
Wilson Funeral Home and Crematory of Fort Payne is in charge of services.
