Late-Night Fire Near County Line Destroys Home; Pets Lost, No Injuries Reported

CHEROKEE COUNTY — A late-night structure fire near the Cherokee–Calhoun County line destroyed a home Monday. The fire was reported around 10:30 p.m. on Shady Grove Road in Cherokee County.

Witnesses said the residence was fully involved when firefighters arrived and was ultimately destroyed in the blaze. Crews from Spring Garden Fire Department and Piedmont Fire Department responded to battle the fire.

No injuries to residents or firefighters were reported; however, witnesses stated that multiple pets were lost in the incident.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation. No additional details were available at press time.
