Leesburg Town Officials Take Oath of Office

Judge Tim Burgess Administers Oath of Office

The Town of Leesburg had swearing in Ceremonies with Mayor Brandy Pierce taking the Oath of Office Monday afternoon administered by Probate Judge Tim Burgess. Burgess then administered the Oath of Office to each Town Council Member, Place 1 Lisa Burt, Place 2 Joe Sonaty, Place 3 Jimmy Tillery, Place 4 Keith Hayes, and Place 5 Melissa Rodriguez.   

The first regular meeting of the new Administration was held at 5pm.

The Council approved resolutions appointing Susan Williams as Town Clerk/Treasurer, Hunter Brisendine as Police Chief, Chad Hopper as Town Attorney, McClure, Sewell, Johnson and Associates as Auditor, and consideration of designating depositories for Town Funds. The scheduled meeting dates for the fiscal year were approved as the first Monday in each month at 5 pm. The Conference Dates for the Town’s employees and elected officials were approved.

In regular business, one thousand dollars was approved for the 2026 Weiss Lake Improvement Crappie Rodeo, the purchase of a pro thermal imager for fire department in the amount of $7228 was approved.

Mayor Pierce informed the Council the Christmas in the Park is set for December 6th from 2 until 6 pm, the sewer project is slated to begin on December 1st, and the Town’s Employee Christmas Party is set for December 1st at 5:30 pm at the Gridiron Restaurant in Centre.

The next meeting of the Leesburg Town Council will be Monday December 1st with planning session at 4:30 and meeting at 5 pm.
