VALLEY HEAD – Collinsville quarterback Mason McAteer accounted for 374 total yards and six touchdowns in leading the Panthers to a 49-21 football win at Valley Head on Thursday.
McAteer was 10-of-12 passing for 258 yards and two touchdowns. He also ran for 116 yards on 15 carries with four scores.
Gavin Lang and Sylas Adams both had four catches apiece. Lang accumulated 163 yards with a touchdown. Adams had 70 yards receiving.
McAteer opened the scoring for the Panthers on a 15-yard touchdown run in the first quarter. After the Tigers tied the game at 7 on a 5-yard run, McAteer connected with Lang for a 51-yard score to make it a 14-7 game.
Valley Head returned the ensuing kickoff 85 yards for a touchdown to tie the game again 14.
McAteer accounted for two more scores in the second quarter on a 3-yard run and a 5-yard pass to Adams to give the Panthers a 28-14 advantage at halftime.
McAteer had a pair of 5-yard touchdown runs in the third quarter to extend Collinsville’s lead to 42-14. Travis Ledford accounted for the Panthers’ other touchdown on a 5-yard run in the third for the Panthers’ final score.
Collinsville travels to Colbert County to open the Class 3A state playoffs next Friday.
