Early Morning Vehicle Fire in Centre Under Investigation

An early morning car fire in Centre sent firefighters rushing to the 100 block of Sherry Drive on Tuesday.

The blaze was reported just before 4:30 a.m. when flames were spotted coming from the rear of a vehicle parked near a residence. According to reports, the owner was able to move the car away from the structure before the fire spread, but the vehicle was soon fully engulfed in flames.
Centre Police officers and the Centre Fire Department responded quickly and were able to extinguish the fire before it caused further damage.
Several nearby residents, awakened by the noise and flashing lights, gathered outside—some wrapped in blankets—to watch as firefighters worked to bring the blaze under control.
No injuries were reported, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
