Two Early-Morning Accidents Reported in Cherokee County

Cherokee County – Emergency crews responded to two separate traffic accidents reported around 6 a.m. Monday in Cherokee County.

The first accident occurred on County Road 55 near County Road 19 in the Mount Wisner community and involved what appeared to be a rollover vehicle. When the Mount Wisner Fire Department arrived, responders found no one at the scene. The vehicle was located off the road in a field.  An investigator from the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to investigate.

At nearly the same time, a second accident was reported on County Road 48 near the intersection with County Road 49, where a vehicle had left the roadway and struck a tree. Sand Rock Fire Department responded to the scene, but no driver or passengers were located there either.

First responders noted that both vehicles appeared to have been at their locations for some time, as the engines were cool to the touch. Heavy rain had occurred in the area shortly before both accidents were discovered.

Both incidents remain under investigation by local authorities.
