ASHVILLE – The Cherokee County Warriors clinched the third playoff spot from Class 4A, Region 6 with a 42-18 victory at Ashville on Friday.
Cherokee County (7-3, 5-2) will travel to Region 5 runner-up Good Hope (8-1) for a first-round playoff game on Nov. 7. The Warriors have an open date on Friday.
Keyshawn Woods led the Warriors on Friday with 235 yards rushing on 17 carries with two touchdowns. His 58-yard run in the first quarter gave the Warriors a 7-0 lead.
Adam Griffith accounted for 102 total yards (54 rushing, 58 passing), threw two touchdown passes, and ran for a 14-yard score.
Keshawn Thomas caught a 25-yard touchdown pass in the second quarter that extended Cherokee County’s lead to 14-0. Following Griffith’s 14-yard touchdown run, Tatum Perry caught a 23-yard touchdown pass that gave the Warriors a 28-6 lead at halftime.
Jayshawn Stroup added 49 yards on 10 carries with a 2-yard score in the fourth for the Warriors’ final touchdown.
John Potter led the Bulldogs (6-3, 4-3) by completing 19-of-26 pass attempts for 285 yards and three touchdowns.
