Pinto’s four total touchdowns pace Piedmont past Wellborn

ANNISTON – Piedmont senior receiver and Jacksonville State commitment Rollie Pinto set the tone for the Bulldogs Friday night at Wellborn. Pinto returned two punt returns for Piedmont’s first two scores in the first quarter from 70 and 62 yards. He also caught six passes for 125 yards and two more scores in the second-ranked Bulldogs’ 56-16 Class 3A, Region 6 football win.

The Bulldogs (9-0, 7-0) built a 29-0 lead at halftime and led 56-0 on Carson Cleveland’s 59-yard touchdown run with 10:18 in the fourth quarter before Wellborn (5-3, 5-2) got on the scoreboard.

Cleveland finished with 90 yards on four carries and a touchdown. Jaxson Howard had 82 yards and a score on 11 carries. Cole Austin completed 8-of-16 pass attempts for 142 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Bentley Chandler returned a fumble 16 yards for a score in the third quarter.

Piedmont can clinch the region championship and sixth undefeated regular season since 1990 with a win at home over Glencoe on Friday.
