Coldwater Trail Race to Bring Temporary Road Closures in Anniston This Weekend
Anniston — Portions of Highway 202 and several nearby roads will experience temporary closures and lane restrictions this weekend as the City of Anniston hosts the annual Coldwater Trail Race. The event will take place Friday, October 24, through Saturday, October 25, 2025.
City officials are advising motorists to plan alternate routes and expect brief traffic interruptions, particularly during the morning hours when race participants cross Highway 202 near Lagarde Drive.
According to the city’s notice, temporary full stops and lane closures will occur between 6:45 a.m. and 8:00 a.m. on Friday and 7:00 a.m. and 8:00 a.m. on Saturday. Law enforcement officers will be stationed along the route to ensure the safety of both participants and drivers. Traffic will reopen immediately after each group of cyclists and runners clears the area.
Additional restrictions will affect Lagarde Drive (from Highway 202 to 10th Street) and 10th Street (from Lagarde Drive to Moore Avenue), where inbound lanes will be closed to vehicles both days. Outbound lanes will remain open for one-way traffic. Race participants will also cross Highway 202 at LeGarde Avenue on Friday between 11:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m., and Saturday between 8:15 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
In addition, 10th Street between Gurnee Avenue and Noble Street will be fully closed from Thursday through Saturday to accommodate the race’s finish festival.
Drivers are urged to use caution in these areas and allow extra travel time. The city thanked residents for their patience and cooperation as Anniston welcomes participants and visitors for this major outdoor event.
