Mayor Traffanstedt Presides Over His Last Council Meeting

Collinsville Mayor Johnny Traffanstedt presided over his last Council meeting. His last day in office will be November 3rd. Traffanstedt has served for 17 years. He told everyone present he had enjoyed serving the City of Collinsville and wished the new Mayor and Council the best.

The Council approved a boundary line agreement with New View Outdoor for a parcel of land they had purchased to place a commercial billboard on.

During the Supervisors reports, Jenifer Wilkins gave the Library Report informing the Council about two of their partners. The Christian Ladies of Collinsville has been meeting for decades in Churches in the Community but just last year decided to meet at the Library. Wilkins said this group heads up the diaper drive, donates to the Seeds of Faith Food Pantry, and recently contributed to the Collinsville High Student Group, Teens Together. The other partner was Home School Classes who bring their children to the library focusing on life skills and preparedness for after High School.

Police Chief Malone asked the Council for permission to get pricing for stripping on 4 police vehicles. He said the vehicles need to be marked as Police Vehicles so the citizens will know who they are when they are patrolling in the community. He also informed the Council the GPS system had been removed from the vehicles. This is a good safety and supervisory tool that would be good to have. He will get a price on that and bring back to the Mayor and Council for consideration.

The Council approved Tammy Vaughn, Hannah Chandler and Jean Box to serve on  the Mental Retardation Board.
