Cherokee Electric Employee Injured in Electrical Accident
Collinsville-A Cherokee Electric Cooperative employee was seriously injured in Collinsville over the weekend after coming into contact with a high-voltage power line while working.
Authorities say the circumstances surrounding the incident remain under investigation, but the worker sustained significant burns to his upper body, particularly his arms and chest. He was airlifted to the UAB Burn Center in Birmingham for treatment.
According to family members, doctors were able to restore blood flow to the worker’s right hand, which had been a major concern. His vital signs and EKG readings are reported to be stable, and he remains on a ventilator due to heavy sedation. Medical staff say he is able to move his fingers and toes when sedation is reduced.
Family members expressed their gratitude for the community’s support and asked for continued prayers as the employee recovers.
