Spring Garden doubles up on Ider 28-14

IDER – Brady Ruark ran for 136 yards on 15 carries. He was also 7-of-9 passing for 74 yards and a touchdown to lead the Spring Garden Panthers past Ider 28-14 in Class 1A, Region 8 football action on Friday night.

Clayton Sadler collected 89 yards on 14 carries with a touchdown for the Panthers (6-3, 4-2). Ben Baker caught five passes for 61 yards and a touchdown. He also had a 4-yard touchdown run, an interception and a fumble recovery on defense.

Bryant Williams led the Panther defense with 11 tackles. Cayden Thompson and Chandler Rogers both had nine stops apiece.

Spring Garden jumped out to a 14-0 lead in the second quarter on touchdown runs from Sadler and Baker. Ider (1-7, 0-5) scored with 3:21 remaining in the first half to make it a 14-6 game at halftime.

The Panthers extended their lead to 21-6 with 9:18 remaining in the third quarter on Ruark’s 35-yard touchdown pass to Baker. Ruark added a 1-yard rushing touchdown with 8:53 to go in the fourth for a 28-6 advantage.

Ider scored a touchdown and converted on a 2-point conversion with 6:45 remaining in the game for the final.

Spring Garden has an open date next Friday before closing out the regular season on Oct. 31 at Ranburne.
