BIRMINGHAM – Spring Garden native and Alabama freshman guard Ace Austin saw her first collegiate basketball action on Thursday afternoon, as the Crimson Tide took on Florida State in an exhibition game at Boutwell Auditorium in Birmingham.
The game was part of the Ballin in Boutwell event.
Austin saw 24 minutes of game action. She shot 3-of-6 from the floor and was 4-of-6 from the free-throw line to finish with 10 points in the Crimson Tide’s 91-71 victory.
Austin also grabbed a pair of rebounds, dished out a pair of assists, and had three steals for the Crimson Tide.
Senior guard Jessica Timmons and junior forward Essence Cody led the Crimson Tide with 16 points apiece. Cody also grabbed seven rebounds. Senior guard Karly Weathers netted 11 points, including three 3-pointers, grabbed seven rebounds, and had six assists.
Sydney Bowles led the Seminoles with 21 points. Pania Davis delivered 14 points and nine rebounds. Jasmin Shavers finished with 10 points and four boards.
Alabama led at halftime 42-25.
The Crimson Tide host West Florida in Tuscaloosa on Sunday, Oct. 26 at 2 p.m.
