Following the football program’s 600th victory on Friday night with a 24-10 win over rival Hokes Bluff, the Cherokee County Warriors moved up a spot in the latest Alabama Sports Writers Association Class 4A football rankings. The latest poll was released early Wednesday morning.

The Warriors (6-2) are now sixth in the 4A rankings, with a showdown at Alexandria (6-1) on Friday. Both teams are tied for second place in Region 6 with 4-1 records.

In Class 3A, the Piedmont Bulldogs (7-0) hold steady at No. 2 following a 51-0 victory at J.B. Pennington. The Bulldogs host Weaver (2-5) on Friday.

Other area high school football games this week include Collinsville (5-2) at Brindlee Mountain (2-6), Ragland (2-5) at Gaylesville (3-4), Spring Garden (5-3) at Ider (1-6), and the Foothills Tractor Game of the Week, Cedar Bluff (2-6) at Sand Rock (1-6).
