Mr. Harry Kastanakis III, age 70 of Sand Rock, passed away Sunday October 12, 2025, at his residence after a valiant battle with cancer. Harry was born on August 12, 1955, in Pensacola, FL, the son of the late Harry Jr and Nadine Kastanakis.
Harry spent most of his years in Pensacola and Navarre FL, where he enjoyed woodworking, welding and any and every kind of construction. He loved the outdoors, especially fishing. After graduating from the Pensacola School of Liberal Arts, he worked around Pensacola at Baptist Hospital as an orderly and at the Royal Package Store. Afterwards he worked in many jobs including welding, carpentry, concrete finishing, equipment mechanic and glass installer. He was always proud of the work he and his dear friend Rocky Maness performed in laying concrete pipes for building subdivisions all along Interstate 75 in Florida from Tampa to Naples.
Harry returned to the Pensacola/Gulf Breeze area of Florida in the 1980s, living on family land in Navarre on East Bay. During this time, he operated Harry Kastanakis Tree Service and Carpentry throughout the area. The business was a good source of wood for the furniture building that he did in his free time. In 2007, Harry purchased a home near Sand Rock, AL on top of Lookout Mountain where he continued using many of his skills in welding and woodworking as long as he was able.
Harry is survived by his sister, Renee Kastanakis (Rick Bent) of Atlanta, GA; his nephew, John Bent (Amanda Williams) of Atlanta, GA; his niece, Emily Corbin (Tommy) of Birmingham, AL; and his great nieces who were so very special to him, Annie Corbin, Darcy Corbin and Charlotte Bent; and his close friend Gracie Thornberry.
Harry will be laid to rest at Bayview Memorial Park in Pensacola, FL next to his grandparents and great-grandparents on Saturday, October 18, 2025.
