Funeral service for Mrs. Fay Genell Locklear, 81, of Piedmont will be Thursday, October 09, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at Thompson Funeral Home with the Rev. Paul Elliott officiating. Burial will follow at Mountain Springs Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 12:00 p.m. until time of the service.

Mrs. Locklear passed away Tuesday at her home.

She is survived by her daughter, Lori Traffanstedt (Tony) of Piedmont; granddaughter, Bre Traffanstedt of Piedmont; two brothers, Rev. Kenneth Gowens (Trudy) and Lonnie Gowens both of Piedmont; sister-in-law, Shirley Gowens; and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Clayton Gowens, Sherman Badgett, Ben Poole, Jon Poole, Brian Fortenberry, and Tony Traffanstedt.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Shane Gowens, Lynette Poole, Melinda Weinstein, and Kenny Gowens.

Mrs. Locklear was a native and lifelong resident of Piedmont and the Cherokee County area.

She enjoyed growing vegetables in her garden, canning, and working word puzzles. Mrs. Locklear attended and was a member of the Mount Tabor Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Dean Locklear; parents, Clayton and Annie Faye Gowens; and brother, Rev. Douglas Gowens.
