13. Adopt Resolution Recognizing School Bus Safety Week Cherokee County Board of Education

 

Resolution Recognizing School Bus Safety Week October 20–24, 2025

 

WHEREAS, the safety of students is a top priority for the Cherokee County Board of Education, and thousands of Alabama students rely on school buses as their primary means of transportation to and from school; and

 

 

 

WHEREAS, National School Bus Safety Week, observed from October 20 through October 24, 2025, is an annual event sponsored by the National Association for Pupil Transportation (NAPT), aimed at raising public awareness and educating communities about the importance of school bus safety; and

 

 

 

WHEREAS, this observance provides an opportunity to educate students, parents, teachers, and the broader community on safe transportation practices, including the vital need for all motorists to obey school bus stop laws; and

 

 

 

WHEREAS, the Cherokee County Board of Education recognizes and appreciates the dedication and professionalism of school bus drivers, transportation staff, and school officials who work diligently to ensure that students are transported safely each day; and

 

WHEREAS, promoting awareness of school bus safety reinforces responsible behavior among

 

student passengers and encourages drivers throughout the community to remain vigilant and law-abiding when sharing the road with school buses;

 

 

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Cherokee County Board of Education does hereby recognize the week of October 20–24, 2025, as School Bus Safety Week in Cherokee County, Alabama, and encourages all schools, staff, students, families, and community members to observe this week with activities and education that promote the importance of school bus safety.
