Kenric Russell Found GUILTY by Cherokee County Jury for Stalking
From the Cherokee County District Attorney’s Office:
District Attorney Summer Summerford announced today that Kenric Byrum Russell, age 50 of Piedmont, was found guilty yesterday, September 23, 2025, by a Cherokee County jury for Aggravated Stalking, second degree.
A sentencing hearing will be held on October 16, 2025, in the courtroom of Circuit Judge Shaunathan Bell. The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office was the investigating law enforcement agency in this case.
During the course of the trial, the State presented evidence that Russell repeatedly harassed the victim to the point that it caused material harm to her mental and emotional health. Evidence showed that Russell had been told to leave her alone and continued to harass her, even after a court order was in place directing him to not have contact with her. Aggravated Stalking, second degree is a Class C felony with a range of punishment of 1 year and 1 day up to 10 years.
“We appreciate the cooperation of the victim in this case, and the hard work of law enforcement. Hopefully, the victim in this case can move forward with her life without fear,” stated Summerford. This case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Tori Ingle and Summerford.
