Mayor Craig Ford, Gadsden excited for opportunities of new Challenger Learning Center
Gadsden, AL – As the Challenger Learning Center of Northeast Alabama nears completion,
Mayor Craig Ford and the City of Gadsden continue to be excited by the opportunities this
new facility will bring.
“The Challenger Learning Center is going to be a tremendous asset to our area,” Ford said.
“Gadsden and Etowah County are already home to one of Alabama’s top technical skills
training facilities at Gadsden State Community College, and the Challenger Learning Center
will help teach students about science and technology at an even earlier age.”
The new building and program use a NASA-based curriculum to focus on STEM (Science,
Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) learning, and the center is expected to serve
40,000 students from across 12 counties.
The Challenger Learning Center’s impact includes local schools and businesses.
“Our local students in the Gadsden City School System will benefit from this great new
program, in addition to the center being yet another improvement for the quality of life in the
Gadsden area,” Ford added.
