Chief Johnson Recognizes Employee for Outstanding Service

During the Piedmont City Council Planning Session Tuesday evening, Police Chief Nathan Johnson recognized Rachelle Looney with a Life Saving Award. Looney was recognized for her performance on August 30th when an ATV accident at Indian Mountain ATV Park resulted in a fatality and 8 injuries requiring 4 Medical Helicopters and 4 ambulances plus other emergency responders. Looney called and dispatched all helicopters and performed other duties while being the only dispatcher on duty. Johnson said her professional performance saved other lives during this tragedy. He presented her with a Plaque and flowers.

Chief Johnson also recognized another person during the meeting. He presented a Community Appreciation Award to Jo Lane Kirk. The plaque read it was for unwavering for the Piedmont Police Department and her actions exemplified kindness and compassion.

Friends and Family were in attendance for the presentations.
