JACKSONVILLE – Jacksonville State University has reached a historic milestone this fall, enrolling more than 10,000 students for the first time in its 135-year history.

The university reported a total enrollment of 10,339 students for Fall 2025, breaking last year’s record of 9,955. The increase of 384 students – a 3.9 percent rise – marks the largest single-year gain in a five-year period of steady growth.

“For the fifth consecutive year, our enrollment has climbed, but surpassing 10,000 students takes us into a new era,” said Jax State President Dr. Don C. Killingsworth, Jr. “This achievement is the result of a true team effort across campus and reflects the collective strength of the Gamecock community.”

Jax State’s enrollment streak began in 2021 with 9,540 students and has risen each year since. Enrollment grew to 9,633 in 2022, 9,672 in 2023, and 9,955 in 2024, before breaking the 10,000 threshold this fall.

Dr. Killingsworth said the milestone “breaks the glass ceiling on a goal long envisioned by the university,” positioning Jax State for greater recognition and new opportunities in higher education.

Looking ahead, applications are now open for Spring and Fall 2026. As part of its recruitment efforts, the university is holding Free Application Week through September 14, allowing prospective students to apply without a fee by using the code FALL4JAX. Jax State will also host two Fall Preview Days this semester: Wednesday, October 15, and Saturday, November 15.

The university continues to promote its Graduate Studies program for those pursuing advanced degrees. More information is available at www.jsu.edu
