Collinsville Police Chief Andy Brown Announces Resignation
Collinsville Police Chief Andy Brown has announced that he is stepping down from his position after three years of service to the city.
Brown made the announcement Thursday evening, following a meeting earlier in the week with Mayor Johnny Traffanstedt and incoming mayor, Bubba Chandler. He said the decision, while difficult, was made in the best interest of both his family and the City of Collinsville.
“My girls deserve the best of their father, and for me to be more present,” Brown said. “The city deserves a chief that can be 100% all the time.”
During his tenure, Brown said he was grateful for the opportunity to serve the community and build lasting relationships with city leaders, fellow departments, and residents.
“The mayor, city council members, clerks, street department, fire department, and you all as citizens have become like family to me,” he said. “There’s nothing personal for the reason of my resignation. The City of Collinsville has been great to me over the past three years, and I am beyond grateful for the friendships I have made.”
Although stepping down as chief, Brown will remain in law enforcement. He has accepted a position with the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office, where he began his career.
“I love, and appreciate you all, and as always, call me if you need me,” Brown said in closing.
