GADSDEN – The Cherokee County Lady Warriors won two of their three volleyball matches Tuesday evening at Southside in Gadsden. They defeated Oxford 25-15, 25-13 and Lincoln 25-22, 25-19. However, they suffered their first setback of the season to host Southside 25-19, 23-25, 6-15.
In the win over Oxford, Macy Lea managed 14 assists, nine digs, a kill, an ace, and a block. Mattie Green delivered six kills and a dig. Ava Haygood collected five kills, three digs, an ace, and an assist.
Ellisan Givens earned nine digs, three assists, two aces, and a kill. Nevaeh Gaidurgis came away with six kills, four digs, and a block. Jolie Alexander added five aces, three kills, and an assist. Jesslyn Hincy posted six digs. Harleigh Henry finished with a kill and a dig.
In the win over Lincoln, Lea accumulated 24 assists, six digs, two kills, and an ace. Haygood contributed nine kills, nine digs, and a pair of aces. Gaidurgis also had nine kills, along with three digs. Givens gained eight digs, two assists and an ace.
Alexander delivered seven kills, three digs, and an ace. Green gained three digs and a kill. Hincy finished with four digs.
In the loss to Southside, Lea came away with 13 assists, seven digs, and a pair of kills. Gaidurgis collected 11 digs, nine kills, two blocks, and two assists. Givens posted eight digs, an ace, and an assist.
Alexander accumulated five digs, four kills, and an ace. Haygood had four digs, three kills, a block, and an ace. Hincy tallied three digs and three aces. Henry managed two digs and a block. Green finished with two blocks and a kill.
Cherokee County (15-1) plays in the Tournament of Champions at Supreme Courts in Guntersville on Saturday.
