Trump Expected to Announce U.S. Space Command Headquarters Moving to Alabama

The Trump administration is set to announce that U.S. Space Command headquarters will be located in Alabama, reversing a Biden-era decision to keep the command in Colorado.

President Donald Trump is expected to make the announcement Tuesday afternoon. A Pentagon livestream describes the event as a “U.S. Space Command HQ Announcement.”

Space Command oversees critical missions, including satellite navigation, troop communications, and missile launch detection.

The decision follows years of competition between Alabama and Colorado, with both states pushing for the economic and political benefits tied to the headquarters.

Huntsville—known as Rocket City—was selected due to its long history in space and defense, home to Redstone Arsenal, NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center, and the Army’s Space and Missile Defense Command.

Congressman Mike Rogers recently told a local audience in Centre that he expected the decision soon.
