Coroner Releases Identities in Fatal ATV Accident

Cherokee County Coroner, Paul McDonald, has confirmed the identities of the two individuals who died from injuries sustained in an ATV accident at Indian Mountain ATV Park in southeastern Cherokee County on Saturday.

According to McDonald, the male driver of the vehicle has been identified as Marcus Ragland, 34 of Rome, Georgia. Ragland was pronounced deceased at the scene of the accident. The adult female passenger has been identified as Ashley Brooke Hawkins, 31 of Rome, Ga. Hawkins was transported from the scene by helicopter to UAB Medical Center in Birmingham where she was pronounced deceased.

The Coroner’s Office extends its deepest condolences to the family, friends, and coworkers of Mr. Ragland and Ms. Hawkins during this difficult time. McDonald said our thoughts and prayers remain with all who are affected by the tragic loss.

The incident remains under investigation by the appropriate authorities.
