GAYLESVILLE – Jack Sentell accumulated 119 yards on 14 carries and scored a pair of touchdowns from 16 and 3 yards to lead the Gaylesville Trojans to a 56-20 football victory over Class 3A Asbury on Thursday.
Sentell also added four tackles and an interception on defense for the Trojans, who are off to their second straight 2-0 start. Asbury drops to 0-2.
Gaylesville built a 38-6 lead in the first half and led 38-14 at halftime.
Aydn Heinrich added 69 yards on eight carries with a pair of touchdowns from 23 and 9 yards. He also caught a pair of passes for 33 yards and led the Trojan defense with 12 tackles.
Timmy Dawson ran for 62 yards on 11 totes with an 11-yard score, the Trojans’ first touchdown of the game. Bryson Thompson tallied a pair of 1-yard touchdowns. He also completed 3-of-6 pass attempts for 86 yards. Gabe Davidson had a 17-yard touchdown run.
Bradlee Smith registered six tackles for the Trojans. Lucas McCullough managed five stops.
Jared Butts, Gabe Davidson and Malachi Jennings each had four tackles. Jennings also forced a fumble. Parker Fletcher finished with three tackles, a fumble recovery, and an interception.
Gaylesville opens Class 1A, Region 8 play at home against Valley Head next Friday.
