Tragic Accident Claims Lives of Two Girls in Spring Garden
SPRING GARDEN – A heartbreaking accident in the Spring Garden community Thursday afternoon claimed the lives of two young sisters.
According to preliminary information, the two-vehicle crash involved a logging truck that was reportedly unloaded at the time of the collision. The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s State Troopers are investigating and have not yet released an official report.
Emergency crews responded quickly, but the scene proved difficult. Units from the McCord’s Cross Roads Fire Department, Spring Garden Fire Department, Atrium Floyd EMS, the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office, the Cherokee County Rescue Squad, the Cherokee County Emergency Managment Agency, and Alabama State Troopers were all dispatched to the crash. Once first responders were able to reach the victims, the Cherokee County Coroner was called, and the two girls were pronounced dead at the scene.
Details about the cause of the accident have not yet been confirmed. Authorities are expected to release additional information as the investigation continues.
