Fatal Crash Claim Lives of Sisters from Centre

A two vehicle accident, on Thursday, claimed the lives of 19-year old Lillian McCain and 12-year old Libby McCain according to Cherokee County Coroner, Paul McDonald. He pronounced them deceased at the scene after the collision.

According to the Alabama State Trooper report, Lillian was driving a 2018 Subaru Crosstrek, which collided with a 2006 Kenworth tractor trailer log truck driven by 61-year old Keith L. Nance of Heflin.

Troopers said the accident occurred at 3:15 pm Thursday on Cherokee County Road 29 just north of County Road 28, approximately 9 miles northeast of Piedmont.

Coroner McDonald extended appreciation to the Sheriff’s Department Chaplain, Deputies, and SRO, McCord’s Crossroads Fire, Spring Garden Fire, Atrium Floyd EMS, Rescue Squad and EMA for assisting him at the scene.

Troopers with ALEA’s Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.
